What do you think when men say “if you want act like a man I’ll treat you like a man“ in regards to psychical altercations between men and women?
I think it means that he’s simultaneously letting you know you can never be equal to them in any way because you couldn’t possibly be as strong as he is, and at the same time threatening you to stay small, submissive and in line, or he’ll beat you up–and you will have deserved it. They usually say it really smugly as well, they enjoy it I believe.
They say it with such contempt.
They don’t threaten men they see as their equals/peers or above them.
They are pulling rank and lording over women.
