This is Hope who is a trans woman rooted in biological reality. She understands that she was a man before she transition. And she is a trans woman now. If most trans women had this mentality, there wouldn’t be the current animosity between trans woman and women.
If the majority of transwomen were like Hope there would be no problem. I guarentee that if most transgender people were willing to acknowledge that it’s a different thing to be female and we need our spaces that women myself included would give time and energy into helping build spaces that catered to transwomen. Homeless shelters, rape shelters, abuse shelters, third option lockerooms. I wish transwomen who had some empathy for the female experience would be invited to speak at LGBT organizations, lecture in gender studies classes and become a visible part of transactivism.
