I have a friend who, for her own health and safety, needs and wants to have an abortion. She is seven weeks along. She’s hiding from her ex though. Can she get an abortion under a pseudonym through PP so he can’t track her down?
Your friend is lucky to have your help and support in this difficult situation. Many people come to Planned Parenthood health centers with this concern.
Usually with any medical appointment, the staff request to see some form of ID. But privacy laws keep your medical information safe from others. That means that your friend’s ex-boyfriend can’t find out about her abortion, but it’s possible that another doctor could see her medical records in some circumstances (like if her records had to be sent to another doctor in the case of an emergency). But doctors’ offices and other health clinics — like Planned Parenthood health centers — generally can’t disclose whether or not you’ve ever been a patient there.
Our health centers work hard to provide confidential services for everyone. But ask about privacy when making an appointment to make sure you know exactly what the policies are.
If your friend uses health insurance to pay for her abortion, a statement might come in the mail describing the services she had. If she’s on someone else’s health insurance plan (i.e. parents, spouse, domestic partner), she should call the insurance company to ask about their privacy policies.
Your local Planned Parenthood health center will work with your friend to ease her concerns about privacy and make sure that she is secure throughout her procedure. They can also connect her to resources, like local domestic violence shelters, to make sure she’s safe after she leaves the health center.

I think the point is the woman is clearly upset and the doctor notices and asks if she wants the abortion. It does say he does abortions for free. But a doctor performing an abortion on a woman who clearly does not want it just because her husband doesn’t want a girl is the issue here. The woman’s choice would be to keep the baby in this instance and the doctor is helping her.
Pro-choice activists are celebrating today: The Supreme Court announced that it will allow nine Texas abortion clinics to remain open until the justices can hear an appeal ordering them to close. Unfortunately, this is only a partial victory and maintains a troubling situation for Texas women.
On June 26, a judge blocked the second-trimester abortion ban that was set to go into effect on July 1 in Kansas. This is a positive development, and it is also possible that the Texas clinic closures of all but 9 clinics in the state will receive an emergency stay before July 1, sending the case to the Supreme Court (No update to report on the Tennessee clinic closures effective July 1. It is outrageous and the sign of an illegitimate system that the simple question of whether women are full human beings who have the right to decide whether or when to have children is even up for debate. It is dangerous and degrading that women’s humanity is being measured against that of a fetus. But the fact that this battle is currently going through twists and turns in the courts is ALL THE MORE REASON and the perfect time for mass resistance. We are done taking this patriarchal shit! There are medical reasons for abortions after 20 weeks, plus extenuating circumstances that lead to the need for abortions after 20 weeks! (More reading here)

Actually you do, the whole world does. The whole world tells girls how to look, act, speak, behave, sit, participate, work, dress, eat. Our entire lives we aren’t given much choice.
