I normally don’t poke my nose into social activism or LGBT community’s business or feminism, but this time I am MAD. According to “feminist” Germaine Greer trans women are “not women” [x] [x]. How are you supposed to lift anyone up by tearing others down? Transphobic feminist is like a racist social rights activist – an oxymoron. 
According to her “trans women do not look like women, do not behave like women and aren’t women”. I took pictures of several famous trans women to compare (Laverne Cox, Gigi Gorgeous, Caitlyn Jenner and Julie Vu). To be fair I took Ms. Greer’s photo from back when she was young. We can all see that trans women look more feminine than she ever did and it’s nothing but jealousy and ignorance spilling from her mouth. Trans women go through a lot, especially because of insensitive a-holes like Greer. They are just as feminine and often times put way more effort into looking good than cis females. They deserve respect, recognition, support and appreciation, just like any other person. 

Germaine Greer is a hateful hag and should not be allowed to call herself a feminist or give lectures on anything.  

This is incredibly misogynistic. womanhood does not equate to being ‘feminine’ as femininity is a manmade concept. Womanhood is the lived experiences of females. I find it fascinating that you are insinuating that Greer, an academic who recognises that her worth does not stem from her appearance, is jealous of these ‘women’, who made money off pushing the crippling ideal of archetypal feminine beauty. You seem to reducing women to their femininity and their looks, which is exactly what a misogynist would do.

She never claimed that transwomen were not worthy of “respect, recognition, support (and) appreciation”, she simply said they were not women. To be a woman is not to have a ‘lady brain’, to rigorously practise beauty rituals, to act in a submissive way or to be a castrate. It is to be female and to live as a female.

Transwomen are not women because they are not female and they do not have shared commonality with women (which is very important when creating political partnership or any form of bond).

Are we obliged to organise and bond with transwomen (male people) because they claim to be women and they happen to like make up?

This is a false equivalence not believing transwomen to be actual women or be like women is not comparable to racism. Transwomen are not women because they are male and women (adult human female people) have the right to reject transwomen/male assertions of being of ‘feeling‘ like women.

Greer said she doesn’t focus on transgenderism as she said in that interview she hasn’t written about them in years. She conceded preferred pronouns and is not advocating for anything
regarding transgenderism. Why exactly does she need to be
deplatformed?

Why does not believing transwomen to be women or to be like us so worthy of this kind of reaction? Don’t you think this is a disproportionate response to the supposed ‘offence‘?

While we are on this topic how come transwomen/activists are often openly misogynistic and sexist yet they get little to no criticism from anyone others than radfems. It seems like hatred and hostility towards women/female people is permissible but if you say anything that could be construed as negative about transmales and people will come for your head.

Women don’t look like the transwomen/male people you posted and none of the transwomen/male people you posted look like women. More importantly you did not demonstrate how they behave.

How kind of you. In the picture you posted Germaine looks amazing and confident holding one of her many influencial published feminist books. I like this picture of Germaine it stands out among the other pictures. You should try again with a current photo of her.

Women/female people are oppressed on marginalised on the basis of our sex and because transwomen are male they benefit from this. Transwomen/activists do not consider this important and dismissed it. The truth is many transwomen/males don’t look like the ones in your pre-selected pictures. Regardless transwomen/males choosing to perform femininity does not mean that women/female people have privilege over transwomen/male people or that transwomen/male people don’t have male privilege or socialisation.

I am a woman in her early twenties and I find your hostile attitude towards Germaine Greer to be ageist and misogynist. Do you speak of older women like that all the time or only if they don’t believe transwomen to be women? Because I can tell you right now most older women do not actually believe transwomen are women. 

Notice how Germaine is 76 and Jenner is 65 and nobody refers to Jenner as a “hag”? Yet older women are called derogatory names for being older women all the time.

The OP didn’t even make an attempt to rebut what Greer had to say. It was nothing more than a pithy “See, trans women do woman better than cis women! Neh, Neh!”

I find it really hard to take someone seriously about treating people fairly when their entire argument is soaked in misogyny.

It is the typical male response a woman says something he doesn’t like (or even understand) so instead of an informed response he attempts to discredit her by saying she isn’t attractive, too old, just jealous and other sexist tropes.

He doesn’t seem to realise that Germaine Greer has seen this shit before and doesn’t care if anybody finds her attractive. She has more important things to think about.
