Internalized misogyny is a well known phenomenon in sociology that is highly studied and written about in sociological literature

It does NOT mean “a woman who does not have the exact same opinions as me”

It DOES however mean “a woman who hold anti-woman views.” This happens because of cultural socialization, where young girls are raised their entire lives being told that girls and women are inferior.

But I do freakin hate Family Guy. In this scene, they are making fun of a woman for attempting to fit in at work with her, no surprise, all male, all white pervy coworkers. She looks desperate and her internalized misogyny is through the roof.

But of course,and what makes the piece disturbing rather than funny, is that the “humor” is supposed to lie in that she is a woman and can thus never be as successful as a man. LOL, woman desperate to fit in with men, who are superior to her! Watch her grovel! In fact, this desperate woman is seen as similar to the strippers. Just eye candy for the men. Just an object there to serve. Except, in this case, they aren’t bothering to give her any acknowledgement because she does not have her clothes off.

This is patriarchy. This is what women suffer through and die from every day. This is not a joke.
