I get the idea that all women should have some kind of self-defense training for emergencies, but even if you get every woman in the world a tae kwon do class, that’s not going to solve the fundamental problem. There’s always going to be a girl on crutches, or with a cane or walker who can’t run. There’s always going to be a woman in a wheelchair who can’t kick her attacker in the crotch. There’s always going to be little kids and old ladies and bedridden women who can’t fight him off, who are chosen specifically for that reason, and stopping rape should be about the source of the problem. It’s not just about the girl taking kickboxing classes every week.

Rape is the direct consequence of our polar definitions of men and women. Rape is congruent with these definitions; rape inheres in these definitions. Remember, rape is not committed by psychopaths or deviants from our social norms – rape is committed by exemplars of our social norms. In this male supremacist society, men are defined as one order of being over and against women who are defined as another, opposite, entirely different order of being. Men are defined as aggressive, dominant, powerful. Women are defined as passive, submissive, powerless. Given these polar gender definitions, it is the very nature of men to aggress sexually against women. Rape occurs when a man, who is dominant by definition, takes a woman who, according to men and all the organs of their culture, was put on this earth for his use and gratification. Rape, then, is the logical consequence of a system of definitions of what is normative. Rape is no excess, no aberration, no accident, no mistake – it embodies sexuality as the culture defines it. As long as these definitions remain intact – that is, as long as men are defined as sexual aggressors and women are defined as passive receptors lacking integrity – men who are exemplars of the norm will rape women.
The fact is that in order to stop rape, and all of the other systematic abuses against us, we must destroy these very definitions of masculinity and femininity, of men and women. We must destroy completely and for all time the personality structures “dominant-active, or male” and “submissive-passive, or female.” We must excise them from our social fabric, destroy any and all institutions based on them, render them vestigial, useless. We must destroy the very structure of culture as we know it, its art, its churches, its laws; we must eradicate from consciousness and memory all of the images, institutions, and structural mental sets that turn men into rapists by definition and women into victims by definition. Until we do, rape will remain our primary sexual model and women will be raped by men.

I linked this to my guy friends who always use the excuse of “What about the false reports? It’s not fair that innocent men are accused of a crime they didn’t commit”

2 out of 1000. 0.02% Of all rapes are false.

Those ten men in jail? They’re only there because they’re poor and had shitty lawyers.

I’m not arguing against their incarceration (aside from how much I always argue against prison), but nonetheless, it’s important to remember that the parents of your run-of-the-mill campus rapist easily buys his way out of jail by affording a decent lawyer.

Poverty class man are held accountable for what middle class men do with impunity.

There is no justice for rape victims at best the rapist will get a slap on the wrist.

Patriarchal predators/rapist will often sue and claim their accuser lied.  Be prepared!  This is a very common tactic, that has worked in the past.  

This is why? I don’t automatically advice taking legal action until you yourself are healed and can take the backlash in our court system.

It can re-traumatize you, hurling tons of “perceived” yet actually victim shaming accusations thinly cloaked as valid if a jury renders a verdict.

In a press conference with attorney Gloria Allred in New York, Lili Bernard and Sammie Mays shared their allegations against Cosby.

During Friday’s conference, Sammie Mays said that she encountered Cosby in the mid-’80s, as a writer covering the NATPE convention in New Orleans. According to Mays, when she asked Cosby for a brief interview, she invited him to walk with her from the convention center across the street to his hotel.

Once in Cosby’s hotel suite, Mays says, Cosby mixed a drink for her with his back to her. After taking two big swigs, Mays claims, “The next thing I remember when I awoke, from my state of unconsciousness I seemed to have been drooling, and was sloppily slouched in the chair with barely the edge of my bottom in it.”

According to Mays, her shirt was unbuttoned and her bra was slid to the side, exposing her breasts, and her belt had been “unhooked and re-hooked, left loose around my hips.”

This dude literally committed rape. He took a woman to a place where she had no transportation or cell service, he ignored her requests to leave, ignored her resistance to kissing, took her phone from her, reminded her of her “promise” to fuck him before having sex with her, and he can’t understand that he’s a fucking rapist?

When MRAs call me a feminazi for criticizing them, this is LITERALLY the “game” that /r/theredpill teaches men. They tell these losers that women like a dominant man and to ignore their resistance to show how strong you are. Welp, that’s how you end up in prison for rape. Hope this dude gets locked up 🙂
