Porn is not addictive, sex is addictive. Porn does not cause sexual assault. Submissiveness is not caused by porn. There is nothing wrong being submissive. There is nothing wrong with sex work. There is nothing wrong with watching porn.

How do you gather that porn is not addictive? In a recent study done into remote indigenous communities in Australia, they found that the hike in rape cases was due to access to pornography. White old pedophiles posing as volunteers were getting indigenous Australian kids addicted to porn and then would trade pornographic material for their body. AKA child rape. Those kids were addicted to porn as a coercive device for child rape.

I did not say there was anything wrong with being submissive in general, because many submissives have PTSD or have experienced hardship in the past and use it as a coping mechanism. However, when 99% of ‘submissives’ in BDSM are women, it becomes something to analyse. Unless you believe in the notoriously misogynistic ‘brain sex’ theory, explain to me why so many submissives are women?

I don’t blame women for getting into sex work. I blame people like you who pretend that they are somehow empowered and liberated when their bodies being sold like a cheeseburger at McDonald’s. They don’t get most of the profit. Capitalism and patriarchy combined has made women being sold like products normal. Before you go into “but no one likes their job/porn is like any other job etc.” 1. A worker at Subway sells subs. 2. A pimp/brothel owner sells a woman’s BODY to be used.

Porn is the same. Porn companies capitalize on poor women, students, women of color, disabled women, homeless women, teenagers, abused women, etc. who NEED MONEY. Now darling, I hope you understand that if a man sits there feeding a woman alcohol while he stays sober until she is wasted and has sex with her it’s rape – right? So what about money? Do you honestly think money is not coersion? This is why you cannot compare porn and prostitution to any other job. You DEFINITELY can’t compare it to liberation. MANY women love sex, but you don’t see them out there in pornos and brothels. You don’t. This isn’t about the ‘love of the job’ – you can see it in their dead eyes and painful expressions. Spend enough time on Shelley Lubbens website/youtube channel and you will see that no one actually WANTS to be there. Especially check out testimonials from the porn actresses. Bet you won’t. Depending on the area, between 90-100% of prostitutes/porn actresses say they want out of their job. How EMPOWERING! Wow! Women in porn are also more likely to have  drug addictions, sexually transmitted diseases, violent assaults, and mental health problems. So much liberation!

And to top it off, with the increase in drug addictions GUESS WHAT? There’s no fucking mandatory drug/alcohol testing before a shoot! Therefore, these women are being raped due to being under the influence 🙂 how EMPOWERING! FUCK! THIS IS HOW WE CAN END FEMALE OPPRESSION! THANKS FOR LETTING ME KNOW! SHIT MAN WOW MY EYES ARE OPENED.

Ps. spare me the “good porn” scenario. Money still used as coercion. Actresses still under the influence of drugs and alcohol. 90-100% still don’t wanna be there. Go fuck yourself.

If any other profession entailed such prevalent rates of mass violence and human rights violations against women, you’d think people would immediately be at arms to have it shut down entirely. Why doesn’t the variable of systemic objectification/sexualisation immediately call into question this kind of disconnect? Is the vested interest men have in pornography – a source of staggering amounts of capital and misogyny – not an obvious feminist red flag?

SHE’S CLAIMING IT WAS ALL FOR AN ART PROJECT

AN

ART

PROJECT

SHE RUINED A DUDE’S LIFE AND REPUTATION AND JOB PROSPECTS AND THEN CLAIMED IT WAS FOR AN ART PROJECT

FUCK THIS CHICK

Wow she’s complete trash

She just set so many more women up for the “How do you we know you’re not accusing him for attention” response. You know how many women will never press charges because of her actions. For real, white girls do too much.

This article and the reactions make me deeply uncomfortable. I am certainly not one to throw accused in jail, but damn if people don’t turn on rape victims super quick if anything makes them an imperfect victim.

I can’t say with 100% certainty that she is telling the truth, but the narrative here is really upsetting.

The main ideas are that she had previously expressed a desire for anal sex (from what i saw of the lawsuit it gave no context for that) and due to the fact that she claims he anally raped her it’s suddenly “suspect”.

The second issue is that she messages him or was in contact with him after her rape. Even reportedly friendly towards him.

I’m sorry that the idea of this upsets some people but if you don’t think it’s common then you are pretty much fooling yourselves.

The third claim is that she is saying she did it all for an art project? I’m sorry are we reading different articles? Because everything I have seen she, while addressing the claims that her tactics were bullying, said that her actions were artistic expression in order to help her heal.

Maybe she did make life a living hell for him for no reason, and if that is the case he deserves to go after that school HARD.

But this shit happens too often, when a girl’s story doesn’t make perfect sense instead of even saying “well this changes how I feel about it and gives me hesitation” we just right in to saying she outright lied.

What scares me more that her rape controversy making it harder for us to believe, is that people who claim to support rape victims won’t support us if we spent time with our rapist afterwards, if we jokes around with him before hand. If we smiled in his face after he raped us and cried ourselves to sleep.

I don’t know the full facts of this case, but based on the article here and the little I have seen these comments are pretty appalling.

I agree with geekandmisandry on this issue. The reactions are rather knee-jerk to such an emotive article.

My support worker once told me that it is not unusual for a victim to continue staying in contact with their assailant for a period of time; this contact might even be friendly or as-normal. She explained it as a coping mechanism of sorts, in which the victim tries to figure out HOW and WHY someone would do such a thing. The victim can be in shock for days and even weeks before actually reporting the sexual assault. This does not make it any less legit.

Many victims do not fall into the ‘victim model’ sociaty has constructed, that is they do not immediately realise what has happened, or they do not immediately report it (sometimes this can also be due to circumstances). As for maintaining friendly contact with the assailant, this is all too common. Approximately 66% of all rape victims know their assailant, and this can mean that the assailant runs within their social circle as well. If the victims are in shock and are in a position where they commonly interact with their assailant, they may not have changed that aspect of their social behaviour yet. The figure rises to 94% in college, with 59% of the assaults occuring in the victim’s residence.

Let those figures sink in. Being assaulted by someone you know, in a place that is supposed to be your safe space, is incredibly traumatising. Therefore it is not surprising that many victims do not adequately process what has happened quickly, and still maintain friendly contact with their assailant. When they do process it and seek help and/or report it, it is often quite a while later and they have all these supposedly damning evidence ‘against’ them. Support worker then mentioned that this evidence would be presented as against the assailant, not against the victim, for the victim is allowed to come to terms with their trauma at their own speed. (This is provided that the victim has a great support worker / support network who are competent.)

I find it disturbing that because Sulkowicz may have had sexual encounters with Nungesser in the past, that supposedly removes any credibility she had for making a report. Consent is non-static and if she withdrew consent prior or during the sexual encounter in question, then it is rape. The lawsuit writes that Sulkowixz’s report states ‘[Nungesser] began to choke her, slapped her face, pinned her arms ad (sic) penetrated her anally. She said she screamed for him to stop, but he would not’. That sounds in no way consensual. Regardless of whether she discused anal sex with him, it is obvious from her report that she was not consenting.

Even if Sulkowicz did not scream ‘stop’ or ‘no’, that does not invalidate her rape claim. Many victims are not in a position where they can consent (eg drunk, passed out), or have a particularly aggressive assailant whom they are afraid might harm them ieven further if they resist. Absence of a strong ‘no’ is not consent.

Victim’s stories may change slightly as they try and process what has happened. My support worker calls this time time where the victim tries to figure out “how could they do this to me? What have I done wrong?” before realising that they were not at fault. Before getting to a statewhere they can file a report, it is not uncommon for them to have to unravel some self-blame because sociey is predominantly victim blaming and they have internalised it. Stories also change slightly because of the strong victim stigma; victims are less likely to be believed if they have had sexual intercourse (and especially with more than a single person), if they like to drink, if they were wearing certain clothing and so on. Victims want to be believed so it’s not uncommon for them to cut out such details initially because such details put their credibility at risk; ironically, by doing so they are also putting their credibility at risk because they would be accused of obscuring their ‘slutty’ nature.

No one deserves to be hurt and traumatised. No one deserves to get their agency taken away in such a phsyical and intimate way. It takes a great amount of bravery to even step forward and report a sexual assault, which is why so many assailants go unreported and unprosecuted. Even if the victims report their assault their story gets dissected from every angle, while whatever the assailant says is held against them and taken at face value.

We need to protect the victims. They need to have their voice heard, and their coping mechanisms validated. Why did Sulkowicz report it to campus authorities time and again, then use her mattress as an art piece cum statement afterwards? Because no one listened, and she was compelled to use something physical and obvious to draw attention to both the way sexual assaults are disregarded, and the indignity of having something that traumatised you deeply dismissed so easily.

“It is not possible to be truly balanced in
one’s views of an abuser and an abused woman. As Dr. Judith Herman
explains eloquently in her masterwork Trauma and Recovery, “neutrality”
actually serves the interests of the perpetrator much more than those of
the victim and so is not neutral. Although an abuser prefers to have
you wholeheartedly on his side, he will settle contentedly for your
decision to take a middle stance. To him, that means you see the
couple’s problems as partly her fault and partly his fault, which means
it isn’t abuse.”

“Why Does He Do That: Inside The Minds of Angry and Controlling Men” by Lundy Bancroft (source)

What Nungesser is trying to do with this lawsuit, as with many other assailants, is to shift the blame of the assault onto their victim. The victim did so-and-so, or wore this-and-that, and therefore is partially responsible for their assault. It is never the fault of the victim that they are attacked, sexually or not, by another. His lawsuit is trying to pull down Sulkowicz’s reputation and potray her as a sex-crazed person lusting after him. Even if she was, one thing still stands clear – she did not consent to the sexual encounter which she reported, and that is all that matters.

No one deserves to know fear as intimately as someone who has been sexually assaulted does. Your own house, your own room is not a safe space; your social circle may have too many links to your assailant and you wouldn’t know who would believe you over your assailant; your streets are haunted by the smell of your assailant’s sweat and every hoodie, every jacket, every hunched back wearing jeans you see holds the ghost of your assailant. It takes a lot of courage and bravery to even resume life approximating ‘normal’, even more so to report it and make it public. They have survived and struggled to come so far; the least you could do is to listen.

This is a lecture on the neurobiology of sexual assault that explains the discrepancy in a victims statements. Worth the listen if you’re interested in what extreme trauma does to the human brain.

Oh my glob! I have listened to/watched that slide! I talk about it all the time and it’s so interesting and incredibly revealing!

That is a disgusting victim-blaming article that’s taking words and actions out of context and twisting them to favor the rapist.

“His lawsuit is trying to pull down Sulkowicz’s reputation and potray her as a sex-crazed person lusting after him.“

You see that? Don’t believe this buzzfeed-level bullshit. She was definitely raped.

Screenshot of a recent yik yak post that got a disgusting amount of upvotes by the end of the day (was almost a top post at one point). No wonder victims can’t come forward. Those who do are instantly labeled as “lying, drunk sluts” (as an ex-friend told me before he knew the police alert email everyone received was about me). And now, they think that a false rape accusation deserves a worse sentence than rape itself. These are the students of Southern Methodist University. They have had 3 OCR complaints in the past 3 years…may very soon be 5. Their motto: World Changers Shaped RAPED Here.

I assume this automatically means death penalty for rapists too, right? Wonderful. Considering that less than 5% of rape accusations are false, you rancid dicks will sustain more losses anyway. :^) Let the justice begin.

Is there any point in going to college if you are female anymore? It feels like it isn’t worth the risk.

Ah yes because it’s clearly the JOB of Southeast Asian women to be raped by American soldiers???? I hate the term “sex work” so much

But how can you tell they didn’t CHOOSE it? How dare you contribute to policies that literally kill sex workers. Do you REALLY WANT TO BAN SEX WORK JUST BECAUSE THE MAJORITY OF SEX WORKERS WANT OUT? What about 0.9804% of white camgirls who are there willingly? Their needs OBVIOUSLY come first because I have an amazing sense of priorities and you are swerf scum BYE

This isn’t hyperbole they do say this. I have seen sex industry lobbyists sites that promote prostitution as a ‘job‘ in India. They are sneaky scumbags.

As Yahoo News Reports:

Zunera once dreamed of becoming a computer engineer. Instead, aged 16, she was tricked into prostitution in the UAE, beginning a four-year nightmare of cruelty, violence and rape.

Campaigners and officials say hundreds of young Pakistani women are also trafficked every year to supply the thriving sex trade in the brothels and nightclubs of Dubai. Zunera and her sister Shaista were two of them.

More than a year after she escaped, Zunera’s pain is still etched into her stumbling, hesitant voice — and also into her body, which bears the marks of countless beatings.

Vivid, angry scars run the length of her legs from ankle to hip, reminders of a botched operation after she was shot three times by the gang who trafficked her.

Zunera and Shaista managed to escape their tormentors in 2013 but still live in hiding in a two-room house in a slum, fearing revenge attacks. AFP is withholding their full names and precise whereabouts for their safety.

Their ordeal began in her hometown in Punjab province, when the family got into money trouble and a neighbour named Ayesha offered the sisters domestic work.

After a while Ayesha suggested she take the sisters to Dubai to work in her beauty parlour, getting fake papers to help the underage Zunera leave Pakistan.

Shaista is so traumatised by her experiences she can barely recount her harrowing ordeal.

Fighting back tears, Zunera revealed the horror that awaited them at Dubai.

“Ayesha took us to the lavatories at the airport and told us that we will be serving her clients for sex,” Zunera told AFP.

“We started crying and then she told us that we travelled on fake documents and if we said anything we would be handed over to police right there.”

Faced with no alternative, the sisters went with Ayesha, thinking they could just avoid having sex with clients.

“The first time, she herself was present in the room and made us do what the clients wanted. We were raped in front of her and with her assistance,” Zunera said.

“She used to beat one of us and ask the other sister to talk on phone to our parents, threatening to kill us if we revealed anything about the brothel,” Zunera recalled.

From time to time Ayesha brought the women back to Pakistan to renew their visas, frightening them into silence by telling them she would kill their whole families if they revealed the life they had been tricked into.

But eventually in March 2013 the sisters plucked up the courage to share their ordeal to their elder sister Qamar, who eventually obtained their freedom — but at a cost.
