Pick a random person. That person doesn’t say how they identify. And I ask you. Is a lesbian capable of being attracted to this person? What would you use to answer this question? Since using primary and secondary characteristics is “flawed”.
Ok another scenario. I have a cis man and a pre operation trans woman. They are wearing the same thing. You don’t know who identifies as what. How do you choose who the lesbian would be attracted to?
When y’all say dick can be different based on who it’s attached to. How does that actually work?
I’ve asked, non binary people, trans people, pansexuals how are people attracted to gender. No one has answered my question. I’ve asked them if we can’t tell what someone identify as based on looking, then that means that people’s sexuality is constantly changing, and dependent on everyone else BUT themselves.
We would be stupid to claim that people don’t lie, OR even constantly change their own gender identity. So if I’m a straight woman, I’m dating someone I assumed was a man, totally attracted to him, even love him, he comes out as a transwoman does that make me bisexual now? Or was my attraction invalid? If I’m bisexual and Transwomen are just like cis women, will I now be attracted to cis women too? Was I always attracted to cis women? How does it work?
I’ve seen y’all say “it’s ok to have genital preferences, but you should still date without having sex” why? Why should anyone not have a fulfilling relationship? Why do y’all want people to date people they aren’t COMPLETELY attracted to?
When I heard “genital preference” for lesbians I thought of labia size, color, shaved or not. Not vagina or penis…no one has answered me. The conclusion I get is that sexuality doesn’t exist. So being gay is choice. Being straight is a choice. Is that what we are really advocating for ?Pick a random person. That person doesn’t say what their sex is. And I ask you. Is a lesbian capable of being attracted to this person? What would you use to answer this question?
Ok another scenario. I have a cis man and a cis woman. They are wearing the same thing. You don’t know who has what sex. How do you choose who the lesbian would be attracted to?
That these problems are unique to gender-based sexuality is untrue. At most, it might be harder to perceive someone’s gender than their sex but that this problem exists at all demonstrates that attraction is dependent on perception—not necessarily the reality of a person we’re attracted to but how we see them.
This doesn’t mean that someone’s sexuality is constantly changing. It certainly doesn’t mean it’s “dependent on everyone else BUT themselves”. Quite the opposite, it’s a consequence of the fact that our sexuality is dependent on ourselves, and our perception of other people.
The greater problem, though, is the question “How do you choose who the lesbian would be attracted to?” You don’t. Attraction isn’t a choice.
“Why should anyone not have a fulfilling relationship? Why do y’all want people to date people they aren’t COMPLETELY attracted to?” You shouldn’t! We don’t! No one should be made to change who they’re attracted to, nor be attracted to someone they’re not. The issue at hand is how we describe sexuality and how people argue that attraction is exclusively based on sex in the face of people who experience it based on gender. It’s people handwaving transphobia as part of lesbian sexuality when it is not a inherent part of it.
It’s people looking at a lesbian who feels attraction to a fully-transitioned trans women and labels her bisexual because “that’s a biological male.” It’s people looking at a gay man feeling attraction to a transitioned trans man and callinf him bisexual because “that’s a biolofical female.” It’s people looking at straight men and women and calling them bisexual because they’re attracted to trans women (straight men) and trans men (straight women).
We are not the ones invalidating people’s attraction. We recognize it’s not based on biological reality but PERCEPTION but people like terfs want to pretend all lesbians are gold-star, penis repulsed, and can automatically tell when a woman they’re looking is biologically not female. They want to pretend EVERYONE can do that and that EVERYONE only cares about one thing when feeling attracted to someone: biology. When in fact, all of these are untrue.
But those who point that out are labeled lesbophobic and called “supporters of conversion rape.”
Life isn’t a fucking Biology lab. You’re attracted to who you’re attracted to, and you should pursue that how you see fit. You don’t need your potential lover to prove that they can do anaerobic respiration before you can do that.
Exactly! But terfs need a weapon to use against transsexuals and all they got is biology.
Biological weapons are extremely dangerous.
A vagina in the wrong hands can kill thousands of innocent civillians.
