The story about the transblind lady melting her eyeballs is trending

Tumblr says whiskey and c41 doesn’t exist so I can’t reblog with a link but yeah some lady burned out her eyeballs with drain cleaner to realize a life long"dream of being blind". It’s all over news feeds because she is talking to the press about how happy she is.

Could somebody give me links.

This is actually a disorder called body integrity identity disorder. People with this disorder have been known to amputate their own limbs, blind/deafen themselves and worse. These people live much ‘happier’ lives after achieving the disability they feel they need, or remove a limb they don’t feel they should have. Some doctors actually recommend that the patients get the ‘treatment’ they want.

Its a very misunderstood disorder and the sufferers literally cannot help it. It’s very serious and a disability in its own way. The BIID tag has tonnes of real life experiences as well as posts from people with BIID.

Thank you. I have heard of it before. I’ve also heard it being described as ‘transabled’. I first heard of it on gendertrender on this post.

This has literally nothing to do with trans folks as just a massive FYI to folks. This is radfems adding trans once more into a discussion about something that has zero to do with trans people. It’s really, really sad that they are Still doing this. But it’s not surprising either.

The post I linked shows that the ‘transabled‘ person is also transgender who fakes being paraplegic.

There seems to be a bit of an overlap between transabled and transgender. Seeing as their narratives and goals are rather similar.
