Has anyone seen the movie Down Periscope starring Kelsey Grammer?

The movie is about an arrogant Naval Officer who is is not respected by his superiors. As a bet they give him an old diesel submarine for a war game and tell him it is a test to see how an old diesel tank would fare against modern submarines.

He is assigned a rag tag group of misfits who are assholes and/or incompetent. He is assigned a diving officer who is a woman. He mistakes her for a stripper and she is not impressed. We get more sexism when he introduces her to the crew and they laugh at because he keeps making accidental innuendo. Later on they steal her underwear and she is humiliated during a parade. They seem to stop the sexism after that but it wasn’t necessary in the first place.

It annoys me when causal sexism is played for laughs in media.

This needs to be boosted. Black women are ignored and silenced in many areas but it is really a problem when it comes to victimization in sexual assault. The “strong black woman” trope allows black women to be ignored when it comes to aid and care. They need us fam. Black women aren’t superheroes, they aren’t magic, they are human beings, and need help and respect. Stop sexual assaults and help the black woman!
